Coronavirus (Covid-19) Information
During this difficult time, St Vincent’s Hospice remains open, supporting patients and families across our community. However, like many other healthcare organisations, we have had to change how we deliver some services to ensure the safety of our patients, their families and our staff and volunteers.
Inpatient Unit (IPU)
Our Inpatient Unit is continuing to admit patients for pain and symptom management, psychological and emotional support, and end of life care. Our staff are following all relevant guidelines on infection control and the appropriate use of PPE (such as face masks/visors etc).
We have had to reduce visiting in line with Scottish Government guidance, but we are committed to working individually with patients and their families to support essential face to face visits, as well as increasing our use of digital technology for “virtual visiting”.
Our Doctors, Community Nurse Specialists and Patient/Family Support Team are visiting patients in their own homes, as well as providing telephone consultations and support calls.
Our Day Hospice has moved to a weekly virtual “Zoom” meeting, with follow up for patients on an individual basis if required.
Our Adult Bereavement and Counselling Service has moved to telephone consultations, while our Children and Young Person’s Service uses a mixture of telephone, virtual and face-to-face support, including visits to schools.
Access to Services
Referral to any of our services can be made by health and social care professionals such as General Practitioners, District Nurses, Hospital-based Clinical Teams, and Social Workers etc.
Referrals can be made by completing a referral form here and emailing to firstname.lastname@example.org or via SCI Gateway.
