Gryffe Valley Rotary Club 10k for Charity

Wednesday 08th May 2019

On Sunday 19 May, The Gryffe Valley Rotary Club will be holding their annual 10K race, supported by Arnold Clark, to raise funds for St. Vincent’s Hospice.

Taking place on the country roads around the villages of Houston and Bridge of Weir, the 10K race is suitable for runners of any skill level with registration taking place on the day at 11am for a 1pm start time.

The Gryffe Valley Rotary Club is made up of more than 40 members from diverse backgrounds and interests from across the community. Focusing on their three areas of community, youth and international, they are committed to supporting charitable causes and have raised more than £250,000 to date for good causes.

One of the event organisers, Derek Porter, said: “St. Vincent’s Hospice is a charity at the heart of our community and we are delighted to be doing our bit to support them this year through our 10k event. We owe a massive thank you to everyone who has already signed up, and to our amazing sponsors at Arnold Clark who have shown so much for this year’s race.

“Whether you are a seasoned pro, or are just looking to take on a new challenge and get in better shape, the Rotary Club 10k is an ideal event to get you on your way. You can run as part of a team, or individually, with a prize for whoever gets the highest sponsorship amount for the Hospice.

“The route will begin in Houston Public Park, taking in the country roads and lanes around the area, with water at the halfway point to keep you hydrated and motivated. Please, sign up today and help us raise some vital funds for a local charity which helps so many people going through difficult times.”

St. Vincent’s Hospice is a specialist provider of palliative and Hospice care for people and families affected by life-limiting conditions throughout Renfrewshire.
