House Transforms into Coffee Shop for Charity

Friday 22nd November 2019

Christine McGowan, from Renfrew, has raised an incredible £2,090 for St. Vincent’s Hospice by holding a fundraising coffee morning in her own home.

A long-time supporter of St. Vincent’s, Christine dedicated the entire week leading to the event to preparing, welcoming kind hearted guests on Saturday 2 November, who all made incredibly generous donations. The event was also supported by the amazing donation of £500 from GAP Group.

Running these events every year since 2016, Christine has raised more than £5,990 through her coffee morning’s alone, along with continued support and participation in multiple fundraising events.

Christine said: “The generosity of our family and friends knows no bounds, they go over, above and beyond and they do that in memory of our beautiful Michelle who spent the last 2 months of her life in the Hospice, surrounded by a team that she felt became part of the family and making her feel safe.

“Michelle spoke of what an important service the Hospice was and how it was only part funded by the government, she would be happy that we are helping others to benefit from the wonderful care provided by the hospice.”

St. Vincent’s is a specialist provider of care for people and families all across the community who are affected by life-limiting conditions. Each year, the Hospice relies on voluntary donations and fundraising efforts for more than half of their funds to make this possible.

Fundraiser for St. Vincent’s, Laura McDade, said: “All of us at St. Vincent’s owe a huge thank you to Christine not only for this incredible donation, but for actually turning her own home into a café all to make a difference to her local community and those who need it is truly special!

“The hours of work and dedication this must have taken is truly inspiring. Events like this are so important to our Hospice, and it is no exaggeration to say that without the support of people like Christine, everyone who attended her event and the GAP Group, that we would not be able to offer the care that we do for the people who really need us.

“On behalf of everyone at St. Vincent’s Hospice, thank you!”
